On Friday, 3 September 2021, at 08:00 am (Portuguese time) - 09:00 am in Central European countries -, as part of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs, and Equal Opportunities of the Republic of Slovenia presents the "International Online Seminar - Occupational Exposure to Carcinogens in Hospitals: Protection of Workers".

This event brings together representatives of the Slovenian Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Health and the Clinical Institute of Occupational, Traffic and Sports Medicine. Dr. Jorge Barroso Dias, president of SPMT, is also a speaker with an intervention that will inform about the Portuguese perspective (Carcinogens in hospitals in Portugal) – at 10:05–10:20 Portuguese time (11:05–11:20 CET). Other speakers include international medical professionals, labour inspectorates, the European social partners and other organizations. This international webinar presents the latest research and examples of best practice on protecting hospital workers from the risks of exposure to carcinogens at work. It is part of the Roadmap on Carcinogens - an international initiative established in 2016 to unite individuals, companies and countries in their efforts to improve the situation in this field. It is estimated that more than 120,000 people in Europe annually get cancer because of occupational exposure to carcinogens, with the cancer being the leading cause of work-related deaths. The online seminar is free of charge and will be held in Slovenian and English. For more information and program, visit the official website.
